Urban Games has released a new video of Transport Fever 3, showcasing how player choices impact the game long-term and the new growth features that are also impacted by this.
To start with, Transport Fever 3 takes the tycoon genre and introduces more mechanics that are impacted by each other. This makes it so that the choices a player makes affect different mechanics in the game.
In Transport Fever 3, the goal isn’t just to build a money-making empire, and it’s even harder to do that. To continue exponentially growing profits, players will need to continually sustain newer routes, which requires upgrading their older lines.
There will be customizable difficulty options, letting players determine the level of challenge they want in different areas of the game. These include industry density, productivity, maintenance costs, subsidy penalties, and others.
While they’re steadily growing and upgrading their routes, players will be making decisions along the way. Players who choose to demolish buildings and clear out the natural environment around the city will run into problems with their local reputation. This leads to long passenger waiting times, bad routes, overdue cargo deliveries, congestion, pollution, and more, which will slow down the town’s growth.
Players can counter these problems at the time with the help of new and extensive tools if they choose to do so. A deeper look at some of the infrastructure tools in Transport Fever 3 can be found here.
Other choices that come into play involve city specialization. Towns will grow with any kind of cargo deliveries, but the town itself will reflect which goods are coming in. A city that’s focused on commercial products will change as it grows differently compared to a city that’s focused on industrial products.
Other changes include a town growth level that measures progression. Each delivery contributes to an expansion target that helps it hit the next growth level. A higher growth level means more passenger contributions, though it also requires more complex and sophisticated goods.
