The news came by way of a deep dive into all things Assassin’s Creed for 2026, detailing the franchise’s future across all its titles, including an image of Edward Kenway standing on a ship with a logo for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced in the bottom right. While nothing has been confirmed regarding what will go into the remake, expect considerable visual and gameplay upgrades and possible new story content to help flesh out more of Edward Kenway’s journey.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was initially released on October 29, 2013, as the sixth major installment in the series. It is described as a darker, more linear narrative experience featuring a female protagonist named Elsa. A multiplayer (Codename Invictus) and mobile title (Assassin’s Creed Jade) are also in the test and learn phases of development.

For ongoing titles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is entering its “final phase of support” as of March 2026, while Assassin’s Creed Unity is getting a released a free 60 FPS patch for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Lastly, it was confirmed that production is moving forward with recent casting announcements and that a reveal is expected later in 2026.
