Take-Two Interactive Software announced its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April and December 2024, also offering the usual update on the stratospheric sales of GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
According to the documents, total net bookings were $1.37 billion, up 3% year-on-year. Recurrent consumer spending (DLC and similar) grew 9% year-on-year and represented 79% of total net booking.
The largest contributors to net bookings were were NBA 2K25, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, Toon Blast, Match Factory!, the hyper-casual mobile portfolio, Empires & Puzzles, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online, Words With Friends, and Toy Blast.
Yet, as usual as of late, Take-Two lost money, recording $125.2 million in net loss.
The company shared its outlook for the full fiscal year with revenue between $5,570 to $5,670 million, and net loss between $788 to $729 million.
We hear from Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick, who defines the results in the holiday season as “Solid” and above expectations. He also confirmed that the company expects 2025 to be “one of the strongest ever” and that Grand Theft Auto VI is still slated for the fall.
āWe achieved solid results during the holiday season. Our Net Bookings ofĀ $1.37 billionĀ were within our guidance range, as significant outperformance inĀ NBA 2KĀ helped to offset moderation experienced in several of our mobile franchises. At the same time, our operating results surpassed expectations, led by the upside fromĀ NBA 2K, as well as a shift in timing of expenses that benefited the quarter.
For Fiscal 2025, we are reiterating our Net Bookings guidance range ofĀ $5.55Ā toĀ $5.65 billionĀ and our outlook for operating performance. Our projections for the fourth quarter balance strength inĀ NBA 2KĀ with a continuation of the current mobile trends, and the shift of some operating expenses into the period.
āLooking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as we plan to launchĀ Sid Meierās Civilization VIIĀ onĀ February 11,Ā Mafia: The Old CountryĀ in the Summer,Ā Grand Theft Auto VIĀ in the Fall, andĀ Borderlands 4.Ā We continue to invest prudently in our development pipeline and remain confident in Zyngaās potential to create new mobile forever franchises as demonstrated by their ongoing success withĀ Match Factory. As we continue to deliver hits, we remain highly confident that we will achieve sequential increases in, and record levels of, Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.ā
Moving on to the big numbers that keep the wheel spinning, GTA5 has now shipped a mindboggling 210 million units, bringing the franchise to 440 million units.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has now shipped 70 million units, with the series at 95 million.
NBA 2K25 has shipped over 7 million units with the franchise at over 155 million.
Lastly, we can take a look at a breakdown of the games in development at Take-Two. It did not change compared to what we saw last quarter, so no new games have been added or canceled. We just have a few more named ones.
