The new Task Force Mode in Sea Power lets players build their own naval fleet instead of taking a fixed one in missions. This mode requires players to manage consequences across operations, so players will have to pay attention to things like ship and aircraft losses, damage, repairs, weapon expenditure, commander progression, and supplies throughout the campaign.

The new Pacific Strike ’85 campaign is built around Task Force Mode, giving players the perfect testing ground for it. The NATO campaign is set in the Western Pacific, and there are several other new additions to the simulator from Update 0.8.0 that Triassic Games wants players to experience first-hand in the campaign.

For example, other new content in Sea Power Update 0.8.0 includes new units, submarine updates, weapons updates, and sensor updates. Players can also use the new Linear Campaign map view, a new optical view for binoculars and periscopes, and more additions to the Mission Editor.

Additionally, there have been improvements made to the following systems:

  • Sonar
  • Acoustic
  • Cavitation
  • Torpedo
  • Missile guidance and evasion
  • Aircraft handling

Players can check out all the improvements and changes here in the patch notes. The patch notes also include a refresher on previous updates, like Update 0.7.0 and even older ones.

Going into Sea Power Update 0.8.0, players should disable all mods related to units. There’s also a guide for creating a Task Force campaign in the patch notes, too.

Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age is available now on PC. It’s currently 20% off for the Steam Summer Sale, which lasts until July 9, 2026.
