The Rainbow Six Siege Salt Lake City Major is over, and Ubisoft used the chance to reveal the competitive shooter’s Year 11 Season 2 theme, Operation System Override, which includes an overhaul of the ranked system, a brand-new competitive map, and a remaster of the Operator Dokkaebi.
To start with, Operation System Override centers on Ranked 3.0. This is the biggest change to the ranked system for Rainbow Six Siege in its history, and it’s meant to ensure that matches are fair with a clear progression system and meaningful rewards.
Placement matches will have faster rank adjustments with transparent progression. There’s no hidden Matchmaking Rank (MMR), so ranks are a true representation of player skill. Additionally, matchmaking will only pair players against each other with the same visual rank.
Rewards have been reworked to give players value for their engagement with Rainbow Six Siege, and most will be earned based on matches played. The rewards include seasonal cosmetics, Competitive Coins, and Alpha Packs.
Year 11 Season 2 of Rainbow Six Siege is also introducing the first competitive map since Year 8, Calypso Casino. Calypso Casino was inspired by the map from Rainbow Six Vegas, using the identity and nostalgia of the original map with modern design changes. Some of the features include a crane to get to the rooftop, a basement spawn point, and a bigger drone vent network.
Calypso Casino will be put directly into Ranked 3.0, and it’ll join the esports pool in Season 3.

The Dokkaebi Operator Remaster is also coming with Year 11 Season 2. Her ability focuses on a more targeted and personal use, and she’ll now use the XK23 assault rifle as her primary weapon (which will also be available to Sens and Rauora).
The goal is to re-establish her role as an aggressive intel-denial attacker. Players can check out her new trailer below:

A few other changes will also take place to keep Rainbow Six Siege balanced, such as regular balance updates and modernizing some maps (Emerald Plains, Kanal, and Outback).

Additionally, mouse and keyboard support will be coming to consoles halfway through the season. The esports tab will also show player statistics for Tier 1 teams and players, and there will be several events returning in-game and more Ranked map rotations.
