Giants Software has released Update 2.0 for Project Motor Racing, and it’s the biggest update the racing simulator has had since it launched. This update refines several key areas of Project Motor Racing, including the UI, several car class driving physics, the Career Mode, and more.
The first thing players will probably notice is the reworked UI. It should be faster and easier to get around the various menus, and there are new tooltips to help players with vehicle setups and force feedback adjustments.
Additionally, several car classes have had their physics adjusted to improve the driving experience. These include changes to the handling, tire behaviour, and electronic driving aids that give players better braking stability and feedback, whether playing with a wheel or controller.
The Career Mode has also had changes, improving the event presentations, updating the race messaging, adding new sponsors (including real-world brands), and adding things like podium ceremonies, trophies, and more.
Online systems have also been improved with better anti-cheat protection and session management. The License Point system that was introduced back in Update 1.7.0.0 is another venture that has recently been made to improve online ranked matches. On a more exciting note, all car classes (including DLC cars) will be available to use in ranked races starting on April 1, 2026.
There have also been improvements made to the visuals and performance of Project Motor Racing with Update 2.0. These include lighting and fidelity enhancements, as well as stability improvements.
Giants Software released a video detailing some of the Project Motor Speedway Update 2.0, which fans can watch below:
Boris Stefan, CEO of Giants Software, also spoke on Update 2.0:
“While the launch had its challenges, we were stepping in more actively from the publishing side to help realize the game’s full potential. We remain confident in the project and are launching a limited-time promotion starting today, offering up to 50% off to invite more racing fans to experience Project Motor Racing on their own in its Version 2.0.”
CDO of Staright4 Studios also spoke about how the developers have been adapting after the responses to Project Motor Racing at launch:
“Following the mixed reception to Project Motor Racing’s launch last November, the team at Straight4 Studios has been working closely with the wider sim racing community to improve the experience, patch by patch. Those months of feedback, testing, and iteration now culminate in Update 2.0 that represents a line in the sand for us – the moment where we solidify the base experience and begin working on the future.”
Along with Update 2.0, Project Motor Racing is also receiving the Japanese GT500 DLC Pack as its first-ever DLC. The pack includes five Super GT GT500 cars, four JGTC-era cars (including the Nissan Skyline GT-4 JGTC and Nissan Fairlady Z JGTC), and a Japanese circuit. The DLC will be available on March 31, and it’ll be part of the Year One Season Pass or on its own.
