Today, indie life simulator Paralives showed off a whopping 45 minutes of gameplay via a presentation hosted by community manager Carina Chioda, aka Rina.
The extensive showcase follows multiple characters, such as Talia and Nikki, over three casual days in the cozy, open-world town of Melino to highlight the deeply refined mechanics of Live Mode and showcase many of the simulator’s most prominent features.
You can see the full 45-minute gameplay video and gameplay trailer right below:
When starting a game, Parafolks physically arrive in town by passenger train, serving as a cinematic, immersive character and household selection tool. Players can highly customize their sandbox experience directly in the menu, adjusting specific narrative metrics such as real-time pregnancy rates, labor durations, career strike thresholds, and autonomous needs, like automatically eating or using the restroom at work.
At the end of each day, when a character goes to sleep, players choose between three distinct Story Cards that dynamically trigger varied narrative outcomes and consequences for the following day. Parafolks can chat uninterrupted in Paralives while multitasking, use public transit, such as bus stops, to navigate the world, and play in-universe tabletop board games together, like Malimalo, complete with fully animated spinning components.
Paralives is officially set to enter into Steam Early Access on May 25, 2026, priced at $39.99. The developers have stated that the simulator will never include paid DLC extensions and that they will be paying close attention to fan feedback when it comes to implementing new features in the future.
