Gamescom is a traditional occasion for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 releases, including free and paid content, but this year, the folks at Xbox and Asobo really did not hold anything back.
First of all, we get a new City Update, the 16th. Since Germany received plenty of attention, the spotlight moves south to Italy, including some of its most beautiful cities.
Specifically, the update includes nine areas of interest featuring high-fidelity TIN, surface texturing, digital elevation modeling, digital terrain modeling, and recent high-resolution aerial imagery.
We get Bolzano, Cagliari, Genoa, Messina, Pisa, Reggio di Calabria, Rimini, Trieste, and Udine.
This is available at no additional cost to all Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and MSFS 2020 users.
For the Local Legend 25, we go back to Germany, specifically with the Heinkel He 170 Blitz, a beautiful and ultra-fast (for the time) airliner from the thirties.
This one is available on the in-sim marketplace for r $14.99.
Xbox also announced a partnership with Lufthansa to bring a package of six official liveries to the simulator, reproducing the beautiful 100th-anniversary ones that are currently flying in the real world.
You can see them below. We don’t yet know a specific release date, but they’re coming “soon.”
Last, but definitely not least, is the announcement of the release date for the National Championship Air Races for MSFS 2024.
It’ll release on October 13, bringing back the world’s fastest motorsport to the simulator, with additional complexity and precision compared to the Reno Air Races released for MSFS 2020.
