Today, Konami released a playable demo of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, letting players experience the opening chapter of the upcoming 2D action-exploration game ahead of its release this month.
The demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Alongside covering the opening chapter, the demo is designed to give players an early look at the game’s exploration, combat, and gothic setting before launch.
Most importantly, save data from the demo can be transferred to the full version, letting players continue their progress rather than restarting from the beginning when the complete game becomes available. The transfer does come with several requirements. The demo and full version must be played on the same platform and with the same account, while the original demo save data must remain on the system for the transfer to work.
Players must also ensure the full game is updated to the latest version, and certain features or content may be restricted in the demo. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse was originally announced during Sony’s February 12, 2026, State of Play presentation as part of the Castlevania series’ 40th anniversary celebrations.
Konami is developing the game in collaboration with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the studios behind Dead Cells, and it marks the first new Castlevania console entry in more than a decade. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes place 23 years after the events of Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse, set in 1499 and within the series’ original historical timeline, but taking place in medieval Paris, where flames engulf the city as monstrous creatures emerge and threaten its population.

Rose Belmont, daughter of legendary vampire hunter Trevor Belmont, becomes the central character in a new chapter, as she ventures through the burning streets of Paris and eventually into Dracula’s castle. She uses the legendary Vampire Killer, along with additional weapons and abilities, to investigate the conspiracy behind the sudden appearance of the monsters.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse retains the series’ traditional 2D action-exploration foundation while introducing faster, more fluid movement, expanded environments, and a new protagonist whose journey focuses on her growth as a member of the Belmont family. It was also featured as part of Konami’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 plans, where the company presented the game through a dedicated streaming program featuring Trevor Belmont voice actor Ryotaro Okiayu and Death voice actor Satoshi Tsuruoka playing the game.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. It is set to target 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, while the Nintendo Switch version will be locked at 30 FPS.
