Honkai: Star Rail announced that it’ll get Version 2.7 on December 4, and players are being blessed with a free five-star character of their choice, a new world, new characters, and more in the update.
To start with, let’s jump into the most exciting news: players will be able to choose one regular five-star character to get for free. This is called The Gift of the Express and will be available from Version 2.7 to Version 3.2. The characters are those found on the Stellar Warp banner and include Himeko, Welt, Bronya, Gepard, Clara, Yanqing, and Bailu.
As for new characters in Version 2.7, Sunday and Fugue make their debut.
Sunday is a five-star Imaginary support character. His Skill lets teammates immediately take their turn and increases their damage. Additionally, if the teammate has a summon (like Jing Yuan), the summon will immediately take their turn, also receiving the damage boost. Sunday’s Ultimate regenerates Energy for one of his teammates while also boosting their critical damage.
Fugue is a five-star Fire support character. She should look a little familiar – she’s Tingyun’s new form after she was given a second chance at life. Whenever Fugue is in combat, enemies are inflicted with Cloudflame Luster, which basically acts as a second Weakness bar. Additionally, all of her teammates deal Super Break damage instead of regular Weakness Break damage. Fugue’s Ultimate deals Fire damage to all enemies, ignoring their Weakness Type and reducing their Toughness.
Version 2.7 will also see the return of General Jing Yuan and Firefly. Images make it look like Herta will also make an appearance as a four-star on these banners.
Along with new characters comes a new storyline. The story in Penacony is wrapping up, with Version 2.7 being the last one before the Astral Express heads to Amphoreus. Sunday and Fugue will both pop up in the story, and several events will give players plenty to do.
A new Party Car in the Astral Express offers a relaxing retreat, whether players want to relax alone or with others of the Express Crew.
Plus, the Trailblazer is getting their own quarters on the train. Players will be able to decorate their room and bathroom to their liking for the first time. It will require Express Funds, which players can get by doing specific tasks.
As for events, the first one discussed is a photography event with March 7th. Another one called Divergent Universe: The Human Comedy is also getting an update. Plus, the Path of Remembrance is being introduced. This will be a battle-type mode where players can choose a new character as they progress. These characters come with unique summons called memosprites.

Amidst all the information about 2.7, there was some news about upcoming updates as well. In Version 3.0, the Relic system will be updated. Players will be able to choose the Main Stat and the Subsidiary Stats during synthesis using specialized tools, Wishful Resin, and Self-Modeling Resin.
