The eclectic Japanese star player Goichi “GO1” Kishida defeated the fan favorite Zeng “Xiaohai” Zhuojun from China, who many consider the best The King of Fighters player of all time.

Goichi also stopped his opponent’s bid to become EWC champion for the second time. The final score between the two was 5-3 in favor of Goichi.

The fight for third place went down between Darkangel and MOK, with the former taking the win.

You can watch the entire top-8 playoffs livestreamed earlier today in the recording on demand below. It’s already set at the beginning of the grand final match.

As the winner of the tournament, Goichi brings home a rich $300,000 prize, while Xiaohai will receive $155,000.

A press release celebrating Goichi’s victory included a statement from the just-crowned champion.

“It is like a dream, thank you so much, it’s amazing. I’ve been through lots of different things; however, I was given the opportunity to work with DetonatioN FocusMe, and I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone that made it possible. Thank you so much for everything.”

This is the second tournament that crowned its winners at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with yesterday’s Rennsport final round seeing the victory of BMW M Team Redline Red Bull Sim Racing.

The competition is scheduled to continue for several more weeks.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been released quite recently for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

It’s the sequel to the old and glorious Fatal Fury series, known in Japan as Garou Densetsu (Legend of the Hungry Wolf).

The franchise, which spanned the Neo Geo era before going dormant, is not only known and loved by many fans for its gameplay but also for its intricate storytelling and interesting characters (albeit this time around, the “interesting” has several meanings), speaking of which, classic fighter Andy Bogard has just been released.
