Koei Tecmo and Gust have announced Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories, the next installment in the popular Atelier series.
Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories is set in Aladiss, the same continent that Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Envisioned Land took place in. The game follows Karia, an alchemist with amnesia who’s looking to find her past while also enjoying the present.
Karia sets out with Servio Lekot, a biologist, and Fina Rozen, a fighter. She’ll also meet Yumia from Atelier Yumia along the way.
Karia has a unique ability compared to the other Atelier games — she can gain abilities by snacking on ingredients she gathers. In some cases, her appearance will change and she can get new exploration and even combat abilities.
Alchemy and synthesis are still pivotal to the games, this time with a new system. Players will be able to connect the mana pieces of selected ingredients to change the synthesized item’s effect.
Some of these effects include solving challenges and find treasure and new locations. Some synthesized items can even help boost base efficiency when building.
Combat is also being refined in Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories from the mechanics introduced in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Envisioned Land. There are both action and strategic combat menus, making it so that players will be able to parry attacks in real-time combat while also pausing time and choosing skills and items to use in a command menu.
Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom and the Guide of Memories is set to release in early 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
