HoYoverse has revealed the details of Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5, and the next update is coming with plenty to get excited for, including a free S-Rank Agent, Zhao, rewards to ring in the New Year, a new outfit, and more.
Two new playable S-Rank Agents are coming with Version 2.5: Ye Shunguang and Zhao.
Ye Shunguang is an S-Rank Attack Dual Form Void hunter. She has a unique ability called Honed Edge, where she enters the Enlightened Mind state and uses her Ether Veil to deal damage and apply vulnerability to enemies. Her sidekick Bangboo Sprout is also joining the fray, sending a volley of flying swords at enemies.
Ye Shunguang will also have an Outfit released with her that players can purchase once they unlock her.
Zhao is an S-Rank Ice Defense Agent who suppresses enemies and accumulates Frostbite. Once she has enough Frostbite, she can trigger Ether Veil: Wellspring, which grants buffs to the whole squad.
Ye Shunguang will be available for the entirety of Version 2.5. In the second half of the version, a unique banner featuring Alice, Soldier 0 – Anby, Astra Yao, and their W-Engines. This banner will guarantee the character the first time a player pulls an S-Rank Agent (which is different from the 50% chance on the first time a player pulls an S-Rank Agent).
Players will be able to claim Zhao for free after January 1, 2026, as part of the abundance of rewards coming with Version 2.5. Other rewards include the following:
- 1,000 Polychromes
- Another S-Rank Agent (players pick from Lycaon, Soldier 11, Nekomata, Koleda, Grace, Rina, Jane Doe, Qingyi, and Burnice)
- An S-Rank W-Engine (players pick from the W-Engines made for the free S-Rank characters above)
- New Free Outfit for Jane Doe
There are also plenty of other rewards for completing the various missions coming in Version 2.5, and players will receive the 10x Encrypted Master Tape through the check-in event like updates generally include.
There are also several events coming with Version 2.5, including a multiplayer event, Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze.
Quality-of-life changes are also coming with Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5. Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault are getting improvements, and a new sweep function for Combat Simulation stages lets players use Ether Batteries to instantly get promotion materials and Drive Discs. This will reduce the time it takes to progress characters.
Additionally, Soldier 11, Grace, Soldier 0 – Anby, and Burnice are getting updates to their kits. Other updates are coming to the other Stable Channel Agents in the future.

Players can pre-register for Version 2.5 to win exclusive rewards, including 320 Polychromes. Additionally, players can get other rewards by redeeming the following Special Program code before 11:59 pm on December 21 (UTC+8): VOIDHUNTER1230.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5 will launch on December 30, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile devices. Players can check out more about the past versions of the game on Simulation Daily, such as Version 2.4 and Version 2.3.
