The adventure indie title will officially be published under the Happinet Indie Collection label, which brings together and releases unique indie games from around the world. Thanks to the confirmation of a new publisher, the project is entering a new phase of development and promotion.

Tokyo Stories originally began development in 2022, planned and produced by Drecom Co., Ltd., with development support from CharacterBank Inc. It is set in a fictional version of Tokyo where everyone has disappeared, with the story unfolds through multiple intertwining narratives.

As players piece together numerous fragments of the narrative, they will gradually uncover why the protagonist’s best friend vanished and what this mysterious city is trying to convey. Gameplay shifts between exploration-based adventure segments, where players investigate the deserted city for clues, and puzzle-driven sections set in a surreal, collapsing version of Tokyo.

So far, we only know about three characters: Suzu (Protagonist), Yuno, and a nameless Young Man. Suzu comes to the city in search of her best friend, Yuno, who vanished without a trace, while the young man has also arrived to conceal a secret he cannot share with anyone. Alongside this news, it was also revealed that the game has already crossed 50,000 Wishlists on Steam, which is no small accomplishment for an indie title.

Anyone interested in trying it out for themselves can visit the Kyoto BitSummit PUNCH, taking place from Friday, May 22. Attendees can experience an early playable version of the game, as well as additional activities and special content related to Tokyo Stories, both planned for the event.

It will launch for PC via Steam, but the exact release date has not been set quite yet. For more information on this and other upcoming indie titles coming out, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
