Anima Flux Gets Demo on Xbox and Upcoming GoG Release

Today the developers of the co-op Metroidvania Anima Flux, which released on Steam back in October to “very positive” reviews, announced that the game will come to GoG.com on December 10.

Yet, that’s not all, as a demo has also been released for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

A release date has not been announced for the console version, but we know that Anima Flux is also coming for PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

For those unfamiliar with Anima Flux, here’s how it’s officially described.

  • Co-Op Metroidvania Gameplay:
Experience a new twist on the Metroidvania genre with cooperative gameplay at its core. Each character develops differently as the game progresses, encouraging players to collaborate and support each other through fierce battles and challenging boss encounters. If playing solo, the game offers seamless single-player mode with a robust AI companion to help you navigate the journey.
  • A Deep, Dystopian Narrative:
Immerse yourself in a dystopian world brought to life with hand-drawn cutscenes and sharp, ironic dialogue. The compelling story explores the moral and ethical dilemmas of a future society, featuring complex characters with tragic backstories and surprising twists. Prepare to be challenged, both mentally and emotionally, as you uncover the grim truths that lie ahead.
  • Unique Retro Sci-Fi Visuals:
Inspired by the retro sci-fi aesthetic of the 80s and 90s, Anima Flux delivers a stunning 2D art style combined with a dystopian atmosphere. Each location is intricately designed, creating an immersive experience as players journey through the eerie, futuristic environments.

  • Distinctive Characters: Switch between three unique characters, and utilize their unique abilities to access new areas, overcome various challenges and puzzles, and outsmart your enemies.
  • Strategic Gameplay: Observe guard behaviors, use environmental cues, and find clever solutions to overcome obstacles. Scout environments carefully, use cover and stealth, and employ diversion tactics to evade detection.
  • Vibrant World: Explore the fictitious world of Eriksholm, a place of beauty, hardship, and adventure, heavily inspired by the Nordic cities of the 1900s.
