Today, Cloud Imperium Games revealed in the Squadron 42 Newsletter a few new characters that will appear in the single-player campaign of Star Citizen.
Specifically, we get the introduction of five crew members who you’ll meet on board the UEES Stanton.
They’re not main characters, which is interesting, as we get a look at some of the characters who aren’t played by Hollywood superstars. We also get a few lines from each.
Chief Engineer Eugene Morrow
“As an engineer, I absolutely love working aboard a ship with as much history as the Stanton’s got and I’m absolutely champing at the bit to get back to it … Sure, she needs a bit of an extra love now and then, but the craftsmanship of these [Idris-class vessels] are second to none.”
Flight Operator Aaron Seetow
“For me, it’s all about the people I work with and I think the crew’s fallen into a really good dynamic lately. The past few months, everyone’s really been working well together, picking up on cues, even knowing when someone’s just having a bad day. I think that’s what’s really satisfying, when we’re all working together with a single focus.”
Mechanic Becca Farneway
“I’ll admit that it’s always a bit sad when shore leave’s over, but it’ll definitely be good to get back into it. Especially since we’re getting a new pilot soon. As a mechanic, I always think it’s fun learning how a particular pilot likes to fly and what that means for how we take care of their ship, you know?”
Gunner William Haines
“I’m so excited to set off on our new mission. Every new area is an opportunity to do some good and make sure that people feel safer. I actually spent my shore leave drilling in the simpod to keep learning and getting better because I want to be ready, because that’s what the Navy expects: your best when called upon.”
Engineer Connie Hayes
“Everyone knows how important the work happening along the Vanduul border is, but I feel proud that I get to serve aboard the Stanton and help the Navy’s mission in a different way in Kellog and Odin. Got to make sure there’s a safe Empire for all those on the front to come home to, right?”

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a PC exclusive, crowdfunded project directed by Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame. It’s a multiplayer sandbox space simulator that has been in development for over a decade and in alpha for several years.
The crowdfunding total for the game recently passed one billion dollars, and it’s currently sitting at $1,024,276,260. The game currently has 6,601,817 registered accounts, but we know that not all are paying customers.
Some are alt accounts, while others are simply created to enjoy the “Free Fly” periods that fairly often let non-backers enjoy the game at no cost.
It’s notable that Star Citizen’s funding tally for 2025 has beaten all records from previous years by a large margin.
The single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in active development with a recently confirmed 2026 release window, starring an exceptional cast of famous actors, including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more.
Since the project has been in development for over a decade, you can see how Squadron 42 has evolved since its first reveal.
