Cloud Imperium Games released a video showcasing the content of Star Citizen Alpha 4.7, which will be released next week.
We start with the Operation Breaker Station, which will lead players into massive derelict stations, try to restore their power, and then use their lasers to break asteroids and harvest their content.
These will have two kinds of contracts, one more geared toward PvE, and the other leaning more toward PvP.
The inventory improvements are also coming, with an overhauled UI, alongside the first iteration of crafting that will let players customize FPS items.
Spaceship gameplay has also been iterated upon with updates to shields and armor. Radar and detection systems will also be changed, alongside missile explosions and ship entry points.
The update will also include new factions, new armor, new space stations, and expanded salvage contracts. We also get a tease of the RSI Aurora Mk2. It’ll be fully revealed next week.
There will also be more sub-patches between 4.7 and 4.8, which will come in May. 4.7.1 will come two weeks after 4.7 and will include the newly redesigned Hull-B cargo spaceship, the Greycat UTV buggy, and the Captains of Industry promotion.
Alpha 4.7.2, two weeks after, will include new missions, including the return of courier and delivery assignments to Nyx, bombing runs, and destroy item engagements.

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a PC exclusive, crowdfunded project directed by Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame. It’s a multiplayer sandbox space simulator that has been in development for over a decade and in alpha for several years. It recently received version alpha 4.6 with new missions and content.
The crowdfunding total for the game has passed $951 million, and it’s currently sitting at $951,114,346. The game currently has 6,366,316 registered accounts, but we know that not all are paying customers.
Some are alt accounts, while others are simply created to enjoy the “Free Fly” periods that fairly often let non-backers enjoy the game at no cost.
It’s notable that Star Citizen’s funding tally for 2025 has beaten all records from previous years by a large margin.
A single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in active development with a 2026 release window, starring an exceptional cast of famous actors, including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more.
Since the project has been in development for over a decade, you can see how Squadron 42 has evolved since its first reveal.
