Cloud Imperium Games continues to release new ships during the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2955, and its fans have pushed its funding beyond a new milestone.

The new ship is the Kruger Intergalactic L-22 Alpha Wolf light fighter. It’s actually a variation of the L-21 Wolf released back in August.

While the original Wolf was very sleek and many appreciated its design, some parts of it proved polarizing, especially the vertical stabilizer under the tail.

As such, the developers made some pretty extensive changes to the design, including the removal of said “fin,” replaced with twin stabilizers.

The changes aren’t just aesthetic, with the Alpha Wolf getting upgraded components by default and different weapons, although those are interchangeable.

You can check out what the new light fighter looks like, alongside developer commentary and the tease that more ships from Kruger Intergalactic are coming.

More ships released during IAE 2955 include the RSI Perseus and Salvation, and the Drake Clipper and Golem OX.

In terms of funding, the crowdfunding total for the game just passed $900 million today, and it’s currently sitting at $900,522,685. The game currently has 6,080,419 registered accounts, but we know that not all are paying customers.

Some are alt accounts, while others are simply created to enjoy the “Free Fly” periods in which the game is available for free without requiring a purchase for a limited time. A Free Fly event is currently ongoing for IAE 2955 and will end on December 3.

It’s notable that Star Citizen’s funding tally for 2025 has already passed the previous yearly record, and it’s still November.

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a PC exclusive, crowdfunded project directed by Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame. It’s a multiplayer sandbox space simulator that has been in development for over a decade and in alpha for several years. It just received version 4.4 with the third star system, Nyx.

A single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in active development with a 2026 release window, starring an exceptional cast of famous actors, including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more.

Since the project has been in development for over a decade, you can see how Squadron 42 has evolved since its first reveal.

Full disclosure: the author of this article has backed Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign.
