The Community Interest Company plans to focus on both casual gamers and esports players and teams. The goal is to create more and better opportunities across esports in Scotland.

To do so, their platform is focused on helping gamers and related businesses thrive. They’ll also encourage and support collaborations to help esports visibility in the country. The group also plans to create opportunities for the esports industry and players in the region. This will come from volunteers at a local and national level, from small weekly clubs to large international competitions.

Scottish Esports believes that, despite video games being a popular hobby among all ages, esports doesn’t get the support and recognition it should.

This gap between esports and video games created the space for Scottish Esports to create an inclusive environment in the industry. The national organization wants to raise awareness for esports as well, establishing educational events and workshops. It will also create online activities and initiatives to grow the community.

Plus, Scottish Esports will support and manage national teams at international competitions.

The CEO of Scottish Esports, Mark McCready, is passionate about the group’s mission:

“We’re not only building a strong and passionate foundation for competitive video gaming in Scotland – we’re building a community. By delivering national-scale stability, we’re committed to creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space where players and teams of all levels can thrive and feel supported. It’s an exciting time for us all to inspire the next generation to learn and explore esports in a more encouraging and positive environment.”

National esports groups like this aren’t uncommon. For example, ESL Australia stepped in to run the official League of Legends league before the region was revamped last month.
