Capcom has announced that Pragmata, its brand-new IP that was released on April 17, 2026, sold over one million units in its first two days after its release.
Pragmata is a sci-fi action-adventure game that follows the main character, Hugh, and Diana, an android girl, as they traverse a moon-like world that’s controlled by artificial beings. The gameplay focuses on action gameplay with real-time puzzles at the same time, crafting a pretty unique experience.
Capcom shared that Pragmata was developed by a team of mostly young Capcom developers. As a new IP with no existing fanbase or brand recognition, there was quite a bit of marketing done to grab players’ interest. This included a demo that was released ahead of the full game and brought it to the Nintendo Switch 2, which follows Capcom’s commitment to its multi-platform strategy.
There were also pretty consistent news and reveals for Pragmata to keep the game on everyone’s mind, including a story teaser and character reveal that was shared days before the game was released. This is particularly impressive given that the game was originally scheduled for a 2022 release but was delayed multiple times.
The development team shared a comment about Pragmata’s success:
“As a completely new IP, Pragmata represents a new challenge for Capcom, built from the ground up with an original world and gameplay concept. We are truly delighted that so many players around the world have enjoyed the game, enabling us to reach this milestone of one million units sold. Moving forward, we will continue making every effort to deliver the appeal of Pragmata to an even broader audience.”
If you haven’t had a chance to play Pragmata yet, you can purchase it on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Prgamata isn’t the only recent title that’s performed well lately — Crimson Desert, which was released on March 19, 2026, surpassed 5 million sales in its first month.
