Today, Konami announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, related to the period between April and June 2026.

According to the official documents provided by the Japanese company, total revenue was 129.524 billion yen (up 33.6% year-on-year), while operating profit was 45.285 billion yen (up a whopping 63.3% year-on-year).

The company also mentioned that total revenue and all profit categories broke all historical records for the quarter, mainly driven by “the continued strong performance of key titles in the Digital Entertainment business.” If you’re wondering, the Digital Entertainment business includes video games, alongside Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.

Speaking of the Digital Entertainment business, which represents the lion’s share of Konami’s whole portfolio, total revenue was 100.083 billion yen (up 36.5% year-on-year) and business profit was 43.870 billion yen (up 57.4% year-on-year).

That’s nearly a 48% profit margin, which is certainly impressive for a company that some people still believe (wrongly) makes most of its money with pachinko and pachislot.

I swear I forgot how that misconception even took root, considering that pachinko and pachislots were never Konami’s most relevant business. It’s an internet mystery.

Among the gaming revenue drivers, Konami mentions eFootball, mostly due to the increased excitement about soccer due to the World Cup that just ended.

If you’d like to compare with historical data, you can check out Konami’s financial results from the previous quarter, announced in May.

Other gaming companies have already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Capcom, and Microsoft. You can expect plenty more reports on this topic in the coming days and weeks.
