Flight tracking has always been an exclusive domain of flight simulation on PC, but that changes today with the release of Volanta for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Xbox.
The application by Orbx is now available on the official MSFS 2024 marketplace for $4.99. While the PC version is free, Microsoft mandates this price as the minimum possible for add-ons to release on the marketplace.
Once purchased, it’ll add a “V” icon on your toolbar while you fly. You’ll be given a connection code that you can enter at fly.volanta.app on any other device to initiate tracking.
A full setup guide is available on the official website.
This will let you see your flight in real time on a map with hundreds of other users flying not only on MSFS 2024, but also MSFS 2020, X-Plane, DCS World, etcetera.
Volanta lets you track your flights and record them in a virtual logbook, keep track of the history of your aircraft, give you access to a variety of social features, and much more.
Here’s a list of features:
- Intuitive tracking system
- SimBrief import functionality
- Cloud Screenshots
- 3 per flight, resized to 1920×1080
- Unique country/airport challenges
- Interactive 2D & 3D map
- Aircraft manager
- Online traffic filters
- Weather radar (rain & icing)
- Friends list

A premium set of features is available for a small monthly fee (£3.49 + VAT per month or £2.92 + VAT if you pay yearly), as follows.
- Early access to latest features
- Real-time tracking
- Real-world schedules

Volanta is regularly updated with new features, and it’s a nifty way to keep a record of everything you do in the simulator and share it with other users.
At the moment, a PS5 version is not yet available, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it came down the line, if Microsoft approves it. We’ll have to wait and see on this front.
