Today, Team Coreupt officially announced its next title in development, an action and hack-and-slash game called Kirk Mephisto.
Heavily inspired by Japanese live-action special effects and flashy, over-the-top combo combat titles like Devil May Cry, Kirk Mephisto follows Kirk, a courageous earthworm and guardian of the Worm Kingdom, in a sci-fantasy struggle against the “Mecha-Sect Horde” and an ongoing war with birds. Players will control the fearless champion of the Ecos as they battle the relentless Mecha-Sect horde in order to save the world.
Alongside playing as Kirk, you’ll also get to control and fight alongside Kirk are his childhood friends Halice, the worm warrior princess, and Carper, the secret agent bee. It has also been stated that a fourth character, Monarch, will be playable, but it doesn’t look like she will be aligned with the party above.

According to her character bio on the official Steam page, Monarch is the most feared assassin in the Ecos, and she has become a top agent working within the Silk (an organization of high-profile contract killers). Very little is known about her past. Her only failed mission, which stained her perfect record, was a target protected by agent Carper, who foiled her efforts while also sparing her life, making him her number one target.
Gameplay emphasizes technical skill, utilizing character and weapon switching, letting you switch between weapons and abilities such as bare fists and a large sword, launchers, and supers to maintain long air combos. Kirk Mephisto will include a standard Story mode, an Arcade mode, and an endgame challenge tower called Axios, which functions similarly to Devil May Cry’s Bloody Palace.
The game is described by Team Coreupt as “a PS2 game cranked to the MAX,” intentionally aiming for a nostalgic yet high-octane feel. At the moment, there is no release date attached to the game, only that it is coming soon.
