With the celebrations for D23 in full swing, Square Enix and Disney shared news about the Kingdom Hearts franchise, including a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4.
The trailer reveals a brand new world that will make an appearance in the upcoming game, inspired by Pixar’s 2017 movie Coco.
The first half of the video is all about that, as we get a glimpse of the world and we meet its characters. We also meet Mickey and Goofy, who apparently think Sora ended up in Hades’ domain, with the Greek God of the underworld promptly correcting their misconception.
The scene then shifts to the familiar setting of modern-day Tokyo.
Of course, most of the story remains a mystery, and we’ll have a long time to wait before we’ll finally be able to play this game.
You can enjoy the trailer below and see if it gets you excited to play the game over a year from now.
Kingdom Hearts 4 will release in late 2027 for PC (via Steam, Xbox Store, and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Yet, the new trailer for the highly anticipated game wasn’t the only surprise for Kingdom Hearts fans, as Disney also revealed that an anime series inspired by the franchise is coming, apparently featuring an original story. For the moment, further details remain mysterious.
Below, you can check out a small teaser, and for now, we know that it’ll come “soon” to Disney Channel and Disney Plus.
