inZOI, the upcoming Sims rival that releases into early access tomorrow, has revealed two things just ahead of the launch: it’ll be removing Denuvo, the anti-pirating program in the game, and more details about Smart Zoi, an experimental feature that dictates how NPCs behave.

Denuvo was originally included in inZOI as a way for Krafton, the developer, to control piracy and illegal distribution. However, what it failed to realize was how upset the community would be.

Outrage sparked as players realized that the Creative Studio demo used Denuvo, which is infamous for performance problems. It also requires an internet connection and, perhaps most importantly, makes it nearly impossible to mod the game.

Modding in inZOI will inevitably be massive — Krafton already plans to introduce certain modding support in a few months. However, this wasn’t enough for players.

As a result, Krafton Producer and Director Kjun addressed players. In an official post, Kjun apologized for not being upfront about this and explained that Denuvo would be removed.

That wasn’t the only news from inZOI though — details about Smart Zoi and the requirements for it were also revealed.

Smart Zoi is a feature that essentially gives Zois more autonomy through enhanced generative AI. These specific Zois will reflect on what they’ve done at the end of each day, influencing what they do the next day based on their personality. As the days go by, this compiles and allows the Zoi to become more unique after every day.

This is also called the Zoi’s Thought Process, which will be available to look into when the Zoi is performing an action. These decisions and actions come from a series of AI thoughts that players can view. As the settings explain, this applies to any Zoi players want. For now, this doesn’t apply to animals, though it may in the future.

This is an experimental feature that inZOI players will need to turn on in the Gameplay Settings, which players can learn how to do below:

Smart Zoi has the following recommended hardware specs:

  • OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel i7 12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 5070 or 4070 Super (12GB VRAM)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Internet Connection Required
  • Storage: 60 GB

Krafton shared a cute graphic for minimum, medium, and high spec recommendations as well:

There are a few known issues already, which players can check out in more detail here.

inZOI will be released on March 27 for PC.
