The video starts by reminding everyone what Planet Zoo 2 is all about: building and managing zoos with aquatic, terrestrial, and avian species from all over the world. Then, it jumps into a sneak preview of Wildlife Reserves, which was not in the first Planet Zoo game.

Wildlife Reserves allow players to release animals from their zoos back into their natural environments to revitalize ecosystems. The reserves are designed with both animal observation and exploration in mind; players will be able to study the different animal species while traversing the expansive landscapes on foot as well as in the new research vehicle. In the video, we can see how the vehicle allows for much faster traversal and can travel over terrain not accessible by walking. Additionally, it looks to be a way to get closer to the animal species in a safe way.

You can take a look for yourself at the beautiful shots of the Wildlife Reserves in the video below:

Frontier Development promises to share even more details about this feature soon, and you won’t have to wait too long. Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. EDT, the Planet Zoo YouTube channel will broadcast a gameplay showcase.

If you just can’t wait to learn more about the game, make sure you’re all caught up on the most recent reveals, such as the focus feature on zoo customization and the spotlight on the shoebill bird.

Planet Zoo 2 releases on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 13, 2026. Players who pre-order the game can get a bonus content pack, which includes an exclusive Toucan eat shop and signage, three unique animal donation bins, and a tiger photo stand-in wall.
