The Evolution Test for Honkai: Nexus Anima will be a closed beta test with a data wipe, and it’s set to start on July 9, 2026. Players can sign up for the chance to participate from now until July 3, 2026. There are two ways to sign up: through the official website (which includes pre-registering for the game and filling out a recruitment questionnaire) or through social media (which includes the same questionnaire, following the official X account, and responding to the post).

The Honkai: Nexus Anima Evolution Test will be available on PC, iOS, and Android. There’s a list of device recommendations that can be found here, and the recruitment questionnaire will ask questions about your specific devices, too.

Additionally, HoYoverse shared a look at several changes that have been made in between the closed beta test and the upcoming Evolution Test. To start with, several character models have been upgraded, including Nanafey and Parayaya. There have also been updates to several areas of Iia, the town that players will find themselves in at the beginning of the game.

Multiple gameplay features were also shown off, including a fun photo mode where players can either take front-facing selfies or pictures of what’s going on around them, which can include adorable interactions between the Anima around town. There was also a look at different traversal mechanics on various Anima creatures, including flying and surfing. Players will also be able to carry their Anima companions.

The features trailer also showed off rare Chromatic Anima, which are variants of Anima that are especially hard to find. There’s also a look at combat, Anima evolutions, boss fights, and more.

Players can check out the gameplay showcase for the Honkai: Nexus Anima Evolution Test below:

In case you haven’t heard, Honkai: Nexus Anima is an upcoming HoYoverse game that blends creature-collecting with auto-chess mechanics. Players will find and catch Anima creatures that can be used to solve puzzles, explore the city of Iia, and learn about the player’s past.

There are also many Animasters that players can collect, who are characters that players will meet in the game.

Honkai: Nexus Anima doesn’t have a release date yet, but the Evolution Test is set to begin on July 9, 2026. More details about the test and the game will be released in the future. That’s not the only upcoming game from HoYoverse, either — players can check out Varsapura and Petit Planet, two more unreleased HoYoverse games on the horizon.
