The grand final for the Manufacturer Cup of the GT World Series 2024, the premier esports competition for Gran Turismo 7, has concluded with the victory of Team Lexus.
The grand final, hosted in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was won by Team BMW, with Thomas Labouteley, Calen Roach, and Seiya Suzuki taking the win of the day. Yet, that was not enough to beat the point lead of Team Lexus, which earned the trophy by just one point.
The winners, Coque López, Harald Walsen, and Kanata Kawakami, were crowned by Gran Turismo 7 producer Kazunori Yamauchi himself.
The competition for third place was incredibly close, with Team Genesis (that earned the podium), Subaru, Mazda, and Porsche all at 19 points, as you can see below.
Interestingly, this is the second win for Lexus, and the Manufacturers Cup has always been won by a Japanese manufacturer since its inception.
If you’d like to watch the final race, you can enjoy it below from the on-demand recording.
The hard-fought Manufacturers Cup follows an all-Spanish podium in the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup 2024. The Grand Final race of the Nations Cup will be hosted tomorrow, wrapping up the GT World Series 2024.
It’s quite likely that we’ll also hear some news about Gran Turismo 7 itself at some point tomorrow, as the competition is often used as an occasion for reveals.
Incidentally, if you want to try the game for yourself, there has never been a better time, as a brand-new and rather extensive demo titled My First Gran Turismo has just been released yesterday.
Gran Turismo 7 is currently available for PS5 and PS4.
