To start with, Version 5.5 will introduce the Great Volcano of Tollan and the Sacred City of Tollan. With that comes the last of the six tribes in Natlan, the Collective of Plenty. The new tribe introduces two new characters, Varesa and Iansan, along with the new Saurian.

Varesa is a five-star Electro Catalyst character who specializes in plunging abilities. When she plunges, she enters her Fiery Passion state that lets her deal more Electro damage, along with using a special Elemental Burst. Varesa can also use her Elemental Skill to quickly enter this state and also access faster plunging attacks. She also restores Phlogiston after the party has consumed food.

Iansan is Varesa’s coach and a four-star Electro Polearm character. She’s focused on supporting other characters by boosting their attack off-field and healing the other party members. Her Elemental Burst also gives teammates and attack buff that scales with how far the characters move. When other party members trigger Nightsoul Burst, Iansan gets a Warming Up effect, which helps the character on the field.

Varesa and Iansan will be on Phase One of the Version 5.5 wish banner, alongside Xianyun (who happens to pair perfectly with Varesa). The Phase Two banner will see Xilonen and Venti return.

The new Saurian that players will meet is the Tatankasaurus, who can smash through chunks of Pulverite and dash across water and liquid Phlogiston for short durations.

HoYoverse is also adding a new boss, the Lava Dragon Statue, that sites in the volcano. Some optimizations are also being made, such as leveling up and upgrading artifacts. Upgrading artifacts with Sanctifying Elixirs ensures that there are at least two upgrades to the Minor Affixes.

Additionally, the Bloomflower Trials returns. Players will work to save a sick Saurian with the help of Mavuika, Ifa, and other Natlan characters. Players will get the chance to recruit Ororon for free during the event.
