Just a few days after American Truck Simulator’s own beta release, SCS Software has launched the Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.62 Open Beta, introducing new DAF XG+ editions, redesigned truck garages across the map, improved interior visuals for the Iveco S-Way, updated Goodyear paint jobs, and changes to the in-game radio.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 Update 1.62 Open Beta adds three new DAF XG+ editions, offering drivers additional customization options. The Emerald and Sapphire Editions feature distinctive green and blue paint jobs, exclusive exterior accessories, and specially designed interiors, giving players new ways to personalize their trucks.
The DAF XG+ 30 Years in Czechia Edition celebrates three decades of DAF in the Czech Republic with a dedicated anniversary design, unique exterior details, and an exclusive interior featuring special upholstery and stitching.
Another major addition is a new set of truck garage models being introduced across the base map and all map expansions. The redesigned garages feature updated interiors and exteriors, improved details, and a more modern look, making them more immersive places for players to manage and upgrade their trucking operations.
The Euro Truck Simulator 2 Update 1.62 Open Beta also balances visual improvements with performance considerations, keeping the new models from placing significantly greater demands on the game than the previous garages. The update continues the game’s Improved Material System rollout, with the Iveco S-Way becoming the latest truck to benefit from the technology.
The improvements focus on interior lighting and material quality, letting different surfaces react more realistically to light and enhancing the cabin’s overall appearance.
Players who own the Goodyear Tyres Pack will also find updated paint jobs reflecting the company’s latest branding. The changes include the latest Goodyear logo and slightly adjusted colors to align the designs with the company’s current visual identity.
The in-game Game Radio feature is also getting an update, with changes to the Escape station, which is the only stream-safe station in the game’s radio lineup. SCS Software removed tracks that caused copyright issues and added 11 new songs, extending the station’s playlist and bringing its runtime closer to the game’s other radio stations. The changes should make Escape a more convenient option for content creators who want to share their journeys without running into music copyright concerns.
The Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.62 Open Beta is available through Steam’s public_beta branch. Players can access it by opening their Steam Library, right-clicking the game, selecting Properties, navigating to Game Versions & Betas, and choosing public_beta from the Beta Participation menu. A Steam client restart may be necessary for the correct branch to appear.
SCS Software cautions that the update is still an open beta, not a stable public release so players may encounter bugs, instability, or crashes. Those who choose to participate are encouraged to report issues through the appropriate section of the official forums to help the development team prepare the final release.
Players who rely on mods should also consult the game’s modding wiki for compatibility information before testing the beta.
The Iceland DLC was revealed a few months ago, and you can enjoy additional screenshots, in addition to its churches, the Ring Road, the coastlines, Keflavík, the fjords, Akureyri, the bridges, and plenty of gameplay.
Further national DLCs announced focus on Ireland (of which we also saw a few screenshots, an iconic road, and Cavan) and on Turkey.
The development team is also hard at work updating relevant areas of the map, and the next rework focuses on the UK, including the Stonehenge area, Inverness, and Bristol.
