Today, Bandai Namco revealed the latest in-depth look at combat and gameplay systems for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, the next entry in its RPG series.
The new Ki management system lets players drain an opponent’s Ki with combos, charged attacks, and Ki Drain Super Attacks. Once an enemy’s Ki is depleted, they enter Ki Break status, making them vulnerable to Break Smash, a high-damage finishing move.
Super Attacks now come with unique secondary effects, while Ultimate Attacks trigger cinematic finishers once their gauge is full. Each character’s Battle Style determines the available moves and combo chains, allowing players to use techniques inspired by fighters like Goku and Vegeta.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 also introduces two new Soul features: Soul Assist and Soul Switch. Soul Assist feature enables players to summon a Dragon Ball character to perform a signature attack. Soul Switch temporarily allows players to channel a selected character’s soul, changing their appearance and enhancing their combat abilities.
Players can unlock race-specific transformations, including Super Saiyan. Bandai Namco has also confirmed that more races and playstyles will be announced ahead of launch.
Set in the previously unexplored Age 1000, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 lets players create their own hero and team up with legendary Dragon Ball characters. Missions can be completed in squads of up to four, with players adapting strategies to take on waves of enemies and challenging bosses.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 launches in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Ahead of release, Bandai Namco will host an official road tour, giving fans a chance to try the game early.
