Today, S-Game showcased its upcoming wuxia action RPG Phantom Blade Zero during a special episode of PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast.
During the livestream, the developers provided an extensive overview of the story before moving on to combat.
We get to take a look at the many weapons available in the game, each of which is inspired by the tradition of Chinese martial arts, while also carrying some obvious fantasy elements.
They also have extremely different fighting styles and utility in the game, being suitable for certain enemies and less effective against other foes.
We also see how you can upgrade your weapons. Interestingly, you can recover all the invested materials in a weapon and immediately reinvest them to upgrade another weapon. That’s certainly convenient.
Next on the menu are the difficulty modes, from the forgiving Wayfarer mode to the ultra-hardcore 66 Days mode, tied to the story. Not only it’s hard, but you have limited time to complete the game.
The stream ends with an absolutely spectacular and duly chaotic boss battle in two distinct phases.
You can check it all out below and see if the video gets you excited to play Phantom Blade Zero in a few months.
Phantom Blade Zero releases on October 29 for PS5 and PC.
If you’d like to see more, you can enjoy another extensive look at gameplay. You can also take a look at the recent upgrades to visuals and gameplay with which the developers evolved this massive game from what we saw during earlier reveals.
