According to a post on the official forums, the developer’s experts and other digital forensics and incident response teams have investigated the suspect file over the weekend and believe that the suspicion that it was malware is accurate.

At the moment, they cannot 100% confirm its purpose yet, but they currently believe that it targeted Crypto Wallets on exposed systems, and specifically Exodus crypto wallet.

The developer has undertaken the following steps in order to secure its systems.

  • We have conducted a specific, thorough scan of other files on the Paradox Mods platform for this malicious file, and no other mods appear to have it.
  • We have worked in close cooperation with the author of the affected Mod “Traffic” to ensure their account is secure and no further tampering should occur with their work.
  • We have engaged a team of IT experts to analyze the malicious file and better understand any current and subsequent risks it may pose.

At the moment, no further information was provided, but the developer stresses that users affected should follow the steps outlined in its original announcement to make sure

Cities: Skylines 2 is currently available only on PC. Ports for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S were promised a long while ago, but they have been indefinitely delayed due to the developer’s bid to improve performance on PC first since the game launched with serious flaws in that and other departments.

Recently, Colossal Order managed to stabilize things enough to fulfill one of the promises made at launch, the release of the first free region pack, focusing on France, with more to come.
