Bandai Namco revealed an extensive look at the gameplay of the anime soccer game Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters.
We get to see a full match between Tsubasa Oozora’s own Japan and Thailand, which should also have plenty of familiar players for enthusiasts of the anime.
The gameplay includes plenty of anime shenanigans, including many inevitable supermoves and a look at the mechanics that kick them off.
Of course, the game is not finished, so there’s going to be a few small issues here and there, like Tsubasa’s hair suddenly changing sides, which is rather hilarious.
You can watch the video below and see if it brings back fond childhood memories.
Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters will release on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on August 28.
If you’re unfamiliar with Captain Tsubasa, it’s a manga series by Yoichi Takahashi that debuted in 1981 and sparked a massively popular anime that has been part of the childhood of multiple generations in many nations from the eighties onward.
If you were a kid in Europe back then, watching Captain Tsubasa was most likely one of your favorite daily routines, so you certainly don’t need me to tell you what it is about. In that case, you’re already a teary mess like I am right now anyway.
If you want to see more, you can check out the original reveal that happened during a recent Nintendo Direct, another trailer showing the gameplay systems, and one focusing on the story.
