SCS Software has released the 1.59 Open Beta for American Truck Simulator, introducing new advisor widgets, a Tow to Road feature, and more for players to check out.
To start with, the 1.59 Open Beta for American Truck Simulator introduces Damage and Finances widgets. This will quickly show drivers information about the truck, trailer, and cargo damages, as well as their bank balance and average weekly profit.
These new widgets came about after the community asked for them following the route advisor redesign from Update 1.58. SCS Software says it wants to do more on this front, but in the meantime, the widgets are a quick way to see what’s going on in their respective areas.

The 1.59 Open Beta also brings a Tow to Road feature, giving players a way to quickly get their truck unstuck. This won’t take players to a service location — instead, they’ll be able to continue their route. It will cost a small fee, but the convenience is worth it.

Another change with American Truck Simulator’s 1.59 Open Beta is a redesigned Skills Screen. Users can now view their current skill level and the next step in the progression pipeline, while also viewing the other ranks in each skill.
It should be easier to tell the steps in each skill, while also making each level a clickable button for more details. This change is particularly easier for controller users.

Right now, SCS Software is focusing on making American Truck Simulator easier and clearer to read and navigate. Several of the quality-of-life changes are focused on this, including updating the in-game news banner to match the simulator’s newer UI and remapping some world map navigation controls. Players can check out all of the quality-of-life changes made here.
There have also been changes to the sounds of traffic, making them a bit softer and more realistic and atmospheric. The 1.59 Open Beta also disabled the detour feature so it can be improved. As of now, the feature wasn’t working correctly for some players, and SCS Software wants to make it more reliable.
The American Truck Simulator 1.59 Open Beta is available on PC now. For more news on the simulator, check out the recently revealed 1967 Ford Mustang and the town of Springfield in the upcoming Illinois DLC.
