War Thunder Dance of Dragons Update Brings Improvements, New Content, and Tons of Vehicles

This isn't everything for 2024, either.

The third major 2024 update for War Thunder, Dance of Dragons, is here, and it introduces over 40 vehicles and aircraft, updated locations and missions, and several quality-of-life changes.

New ground vehicles, aircraft, and naval vehicles from all over the world came with the Dance of Dragons update. 

These are all the new ground vehicles and their respective countries:

  • USA: T1E1 (90)
  • Germany: Puma VJTF
  • USSR: ZSU-23-4M2
  • Great Britain: Stormer AD
  • Japan: CTWV RCV
  • China: Antelope ADS
  • AI-Khalid-I
  • France: CV9035NL

Additionally, several ground vehicles have been updated. Some of these are visual updates, while some received bug fixes or new features. These are all of the updated vehicles:

  • USA: M41A1
  • USSR: T-80U-E1
  • China: ZTZ99!
  • Italy: Freccia

Switzerland got its first domestic aircraft in War Thunder, the FFA P-16. It was created by two players, who also enlisted the help of the Swiss Air Force Center in Dübendorf, Switzerland. Keep in mind that Switzerland is a German sub-tree, so it’s listed with German aircraft.

Here are all the new aircraft in the Dance of Dragons update, separated by country:

  • USA: A-10C, F-111F, AV-8B (NA)
  • Germany: FFA P-16
  • USSR: Su-24M
  • Great Britain: F-111C
  • China: JF-17, J-10A
  • Italy: Tornado IDS
  • France: Sea Fury FB 51, Sea Hawk Mk.50
  • Israel: F-16C Barak II

When it comes to naval vehicles, the French Coastal Fleet is now in closed testing. To join, players need to work on the closed testing tasks or buy the VLT-2 Pack. These vehicles include the VTB-8, VTB-9, VTB-11, VTB-13, VTB-14, VTB-19, MTB-96, L9050, VLT-1, La Combattante, Arras, and La Surprise.

The other new naval vehicles are below with their country of origin:

  • USA: USS Tennessee
  • Germany: SMS Derfflinger
  • USSR: Izmail
  • Great Britain: HMAS Fremantle
  • Japan: PT-802, IJN Amagi
  • Italy: MAS 441

There aren’t any new locations with the Dance of Dragons update. However, War Thunder updated several locations and missions. The updated and altered places include 38th Parallel, Kuban, Iberian Castle, Second Battle of El Alamein and Eastern Europe.

Plus, both [Domination] and [Domination #2] in Eastern Europe were altered.

To round out the update, War Thunder improved several UI elements. These include the secondary weapon menu, an x-ray part filter, several sound changes, and new customization options and textures. Helicopters received improved damage models as well.

Plus, tanks also have custom tank sights now. Developers discussed these earlier this month.

These changes came with plenty of bug fixes. Players can view every single change here.

There are still changes to come in War Thunder later this year. The 2024 roadmap still has several social features, game model updates, and game mechanics planned for the year.
