Today, Dovetail Games announced that Train Sim World 7 is set to take players to rural Japan for the first time with Tadami Line: Aizu-Wakamatsu – Tadami, a new route add-on developed by Union Workshop and scheduled to release on September 29, 2026.

Train Sim World 7: Tadami Line lets players travel through Fukushima Prefecture while controlling the classic KiHa 40 diesel railcar along one of Japan’s most scenic railway lines. The 88-kilometer route follows the Tadami River through mountainous terrain, dense forests, and traditional Japanese communities, featuring 28 detailed stations between Aizu-Wakamatsu and Tadami.

Players will travel through river valleys, dams, bridges, and varied landscapes that reflect rural Japan, focusing on a slower, scenic railway simulation, with seasonal weather conditions affecting gameplay. Train Sim World 7: Tadami Line lets players travel beneath spring cherry blossoms, pass through lush summer forests, or operate through snow-covered mountains and frozen valleys, with five scenarios showcasing different sections and seasons of the route.

The railway itself has a long history dating back to 1928, when the first section between Aizu-Wakamatsu and Aizu-Yanaizu opened as part of the Aizu Railway. The line was gradually extended deeper into the mountains, reaching Aizu-Kawaguchi in 1956 and finally Tadami in 1963.

The Train Sim World 7 version is set before the devastating rainfall of 2011, which caused significant damage to the railway and suspended services beyond Aizu-Kawaguchi for more than a decade. This setting lets players experience the full route from Aizu-Wakamatsu to Tadami as it existed before the disruption.

The KiHa 40 serves as the centerpiece of the route, with the diesel railcar available in three different liveries. Players will also encounter authentic Japanese signaling and ATS safety systems, while the route’s timetable is based on real-world railway operations.

Beyond the standard timetable services, Tadami Line will include a Tutorial and Route Introduction for new players, along with Journey Mode, Route Tasks and Free Roam. The route will also support Livery Designer, Formation Designer and Scenario Planner, providing additional ways to customize and experience the railway.

Train Sim World 7: Tadami Line: Aizu-Wakamatsu – Tadami will launch on September 29, 2026, for £29.99 / €35.99 / $39.99. The route will be available exclusively as part of Train Sim World 7, which launches on September 15, with a Free Starter Edition also becoming available that day.

Players can currently pre-order Train Sim World 7 for $44.99, down from $49.99, while those interested in the Tadami Line route can add it to their Steam wishlist ahead of release. For more information on this and other add-ons, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
