Today, Dovetail Games laid out the July 2026 roadmap for Train Sim World 6 while also confirming the next Dovetail Direct showcase will take place on August 25, 2026.
Dovetail Direct will feature new downloadable content, third-party projects, and a major July game update. Before the showcase, a July Roadmap livestream will air on July 10, 2026, at 7 p.m. BST to discuss recent developments and answer community questions.
To start, Train Sim World 6 Cargo Line Volume 6: Gas arrives July 14, 2026, and is being developed by Skyhook Games. This is the first Cargo Line expansion set on a mainland European route, adding VTG-branded Zags 110m³ gas tanker wagons for Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim-Kaiserslautern, six new scenarios, and 18 timetable services with the DB BR 185.
The wagons work with Free Roam, Formation Designer, Scenario Planner, and Livery Designer. The expansion costs $12.99, with Dovetail confirming that two more Cargo Line packs are in development, with details to come.
Incredible Trains said recent work on Thames Valley Branches has focused on optimization, including a new performance-profiling system to improve frame rates and support future routes. The update adds seasonal crop changes, new wildlife behavior, animated river traffic, British emergency vehicles, telegraph poles, and major updates to the Class 165, including revised cab systems, train faults, lighting, and interior improvements.
All Aboard Studios previewed the Freightliner Class 70 and Wascosa MLA Wagon add-on, describing it as one of their most technically ambitious projects. Nearly every switch, breaker, and control from the real locomotive is functional in-game, including a full startup procedure. The studio is now focused on final polish ahead of release.
Union Workshop’s Tadami Line: Aizu-Wakamatsu remains on track for release before Dovetail Direct on August 25, 2026. Dovetail Games said additional screenshots, a launch trailer, and more information will be released in the coming weeks.
Incredible Trains confirmed the Mildmay Line Richmond Extension will give Euston-Milton Keynes route owners a licensed South West Trains livery for the Class 350, allowing it to represent AI-operated Class 450 services near Richmond. The route adds optional in-cab CCTV monitors, which can be toggled in Expert Mode, as well as animated River Thames boat traffic.
Dovetail said development continues for Thames Valley Branches, Freightliner Class 70 and Wascosa MLA Wagon, Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg-Ingolstadt, and Tadami Line: Aizu-Wakamatsu. Other projects in production include the BNSF Snoot Nose SD40-2, Lisbon-Setúbal, Rhein-Niers-Bahn, and DB BR 420.
A major Train Sim World 6 update arrives July 9, 2026, bringing quality-of-life improvements, crash fixes, and updates for many routes and locomotives. Fixes for Niddertalbahn, Mittenwaldbahn, the Expert BR 101, and the BR 194 & E94 Railtour Pack are delayed to a future update.
Key additions include expanded timetables and gameplay updates for ScotRail Express: Edinburgh-Glasgow and Fife Circle Line, with new playable services, station upgrades, signaling improvements, and route optimization. The update also delivers performance improvements for West Coast Main Line: Crewe-Preston, major fixes for Liberec-Stará Paka, updates to several Cargo Line packs, and dozens of bug fixes for locomotives, freight wagons, and core systems.
Dovetail launched July Mastery Challenges with new in-game cosmetic rewards and opened the monthly Railshots screenshot competition with the theme of Summer.
Dovetail Games also released full patch notes for the July 9 Train Sim World 6 update, detailing core stability improvements, expanded timetables, route enhancements, and bug fixes for dozens of locomotives and add-ons.
The upcoming Train Sim World 6 update addresses several core system issues, including Photo Mode, profile-saving crashes, and Xbox startup stability. Players can now delete locally saved Photo Mode images directly in-game.
Scotland is also a major focus of the patch, as it delivers major improvements for ScotRail Express: the Edinburgh-Glasgow and the Fife Circle Line & Levenmouth Rail Link. Both routes receive new approach control signaling, GSM-R infrastructure, scenery upgrades, and additional station improvements. Edinburgh-Glasgow also adds new audio and lighting, depot upgrades, and updated route details.
Timetable updates add more playable Class 158, Class 170, Class 220, and Class 801 services, along with increased AI traffic at Edinburgh Waverley. Dovetail Games updated service patterns, fixed signal behavior, and revised scoring to include Platinum medals. Fife Circle receives similar timetable additions, including new Railhead Treatment Train services and more AI operations. Class 800 services remain unavailable as the train is not yet in Train Sim World 6.
Several Scottish locomotives receive major updates. The Class 385 gets a full audio overhaul with new brake, weather, and ambient sounds. The ScotRail Class 170 adds Guard Mode, revised running sounds, improved horn behavior, and additional cab effects. The ScotRail Class 158 introduces new suspension physics, expanded timetable integration, and an updated Journey Mode chapter for Fife services.
Many German routes and locomotives received targeted fixes, with several quality-of-life changes being implemented. Those include signaling corrections for Bahnstrecke Leipzig-Dresden, lighting and crossing improvements for Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim-Kaiserslautern, AI fixes for Maintalbahn, and gameplay adjustments for Frankfurt-Fulda, Bremen-Oldenburg, and several DB locomotives.
Liberec-Stará Paka in the Czech Republic receives one of the largest sets of fixes in the patch, including scenery upgrades, signal corrections, collision fixes, performance improvements, passenger information updates, and environmental enhancements. The Class 750 and Class 843 rolling stock also receive bug fixes, RailDriver support, and operational improvements.
Dovetail Games also continues to refine its Cargo Line series with Cargo Line Volume 5: Nuclear, which is receiving dozens of fixes and quality-of-life improvements. These affect the Class 20 locomotive, FNA wagons, lighting, GSM-R functionality, audio, suspension physics, and formation behavior.
Cargo Line Volume 4: Military, Cargo Line Volume 2: Aggregates, and Cargo Line Volume 1: Petroleum even receive improvements, including suspension upgrades, locomotive fixes, corrected buffer behavior, and localization updates.
West Coast Main Line: Crewe-Preston benefits from CPU optimization, lower memory usage, crash fixes near Warrington, and an optional reduced timetable designed to improve performance on lower-end systems.
