Today, Dovetail Games showed off the first official look at the latest add-on route for its hit simulation title, Train Sim World 5, a German track by the name of Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim – Kaiserslautern.
The debut of the Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn route in Train Sim World 5 marks the first time a German track has been a part of the game. It will cover the south of Frankfurt and will introduce a host of trains and rolling stock.
Both S-Bahn and ICE services will be represented as a part of the route and will include four trains: The DB BR 425, BR 406 ICE 3M, BR 185, and BR 111. You can take a sneak preview of them in action in the trailer below.
Thanks to the BR 185, players can utilize freight wagons from multiple TSW routes. Services utilizing the TGV Duplex from LGV Méditerranée will run two of the Frankfurt Main Hbf to Paris Est services that the ICE 3 does not, while AI services using the DB BR 642 from Maintalbahn will also be seen.
At the moment, there are some known issues with the Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn route, including incorrect destination displays, missing AI services, and playable and AI layers not being implemented for the BR 628 from Niddertalbahn yet. The developers noted they’d address these issues post-launch.
Train Sim World 5: Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim – Kaiserslautern route add-on is set to release January 30, 2025, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store & Steam) for $39.99. There are also currently a train car’s worth of additional DLC to download, which includes locations like the 100 Mile-Long West Coast Main Line: Preston – Carlisle and plenty of premium train-based content.
