Developer Gabriel Solon opened the Steam page of a new combat flight action game titled Supermaneuver.
The game, which you can now wishlist on Steam, is explicitly “Inspired by the visuals and tone of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere,” which is at the very least a sign of good taste.
The game certainly wears its inspiration on its sleeve, not just with futuristic aircraft and familiar action, but also with visuals that certainly feel close to our memories of the PS1 era.
Here’s what you can expect in terms of story:
“You are “Ozzy”, a pilot with a state-sponsored “privateer” group known as “Ximango”; a mercenary by any other name.
Your current contract has brought you to the resource rich, but constantly internally embattled nation of Novaria. You are hired by the Novarian government to combat the rebellion within its borders, while the international Tritolian-Levarian Alliance tries its best to keep the rules of war followed as it oversees peacekeeping operations in Novaria, much to the government’s chagrin.
With the end of this rebellion in sight, the true goals of the Novarian government and the TLA come to a flashpoint with you at the center.
Pick your battle. Choose your enemy. Rule the skies.”
We also get an official list of features for Supermaneuver.
- Over 20 playable aircraft and 30 special weapons.
- A singleplayer campaign with two differing paths and unique missions, written and produced by Matthew “FlyAwayNow” Nguyen (Project Wingman).
- The world of 20XX, where retro-futuristic cities and mega infrastructure become battlefields to fly over and destroy.
- Full soundtrack featuring DnB, electronic, trance, and more!
- Mission Recorder/Replay system.
- Complementary WSO (who is also your childhood friend!).
We also get a brief trailer showing the gameplay.
Lately, we have seen quite a few Ace Combat-like games pop up, including Aggressors: Fantasy Air Combat.
