Flight Simulation developers shared news today, focusing on airports for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, and X-Plane.
Before we move on to the airports, you can take a look at a story that received its own individual coverage:
Western Sydney Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Gets New Screenshots
Drzewiecki Design revealed new screenshots of its Western Sydney International Airport (YSWS) in Australia. We also get a development update and the confirmation that the airport will be compatible with MSFS 2020.
“With the improved Projected Mesh tech in MSFS2024, we’re now able to build the ground layout in ultra-high resolution. Compared to MSFS2020, the difference is massive — no more blurry markings or that default overlay texture look. We also have much finer control over texture compression through config files, which helps us optimize performance without sacrificing visual quality.
That said, WSI will be fully compatible with both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024. We’re just making sure the 2024 version is ready to take full advantage of what the new SDK offers.
In parallel, work on the terminal interior is moving forward. This week’s progress includes more modeling around the piers, glass corridors, elevators, and multi-level structures. We’ll be sharing some shots to show how it’s all coming together.”
