Without further ado, I leave you with today’s flight simulation news.

Airbus A220 for MSFS Gets Extensive Development Uopdate, Screenshots, and Videos

Synaptic Simulations released an extensive overview of the development status of its Airbus A220, mentioning that they’re well on their way to the objective of having every part of the avionics fed by the correct components of the aircraft.

The displays now indicate hydraulic, fuel, and battery temperatures, which depend on current conditions. The developers have even simulated the realistic lag between an effect and when it is displayed, according to their reference material. Control surfaces also react to gravity and the wind.

The flight management system counts over 21,000 lines of code, including the majority of the A220’s FMS functions like graphical flight planning, full lateral and vertical navigation, performance planning, crew alerting and messaging, vertical direct-tos, configurable holds, and path offsets.

Like in the real aircraft, you can modify your flight plan directly by clicking on the map, and both default MSFS and Navigraph data sources are supported. The developers have also made an effort to simulate the real FMS’s idiosyncrasies.

FLEX takeoffs, derates for both takeoff and climb, flap extension and retraction speed calculations, noise abatement departure profiles, configurable climb, cruise, and descent speeds, and temperature compensation on arrival are all simulated and integrated with VNAV, fuel predictions, and estimated times of arrival at every waypoint. Wind data is also taken into account and can be downloaded from SimBrief.

The vertical situation display is present and even includes the ILS or LPV feather displayed from the final approach fix.

Speaking of approaches, the aircraft is capable of flying ILS, LOC, LDA, RNAV RNP (0.30), RNAV RNP AR, RNAV LPV, VOR, and VOR/DME approaches.

It’s also fully autoland capable with accurate transitions between modes and reversion to APPR 1/2 modes if the conditions for autoland aren’t present.

Flight guidance has been simulated with its own quirks, and the Emergency Descent Mode is available.

The sound package has been created by Echo 19, including the iconic engine howl  procedurally simulated based on live engine parameters.

de Havilland Canada DHC-7 for MSFS 2024 Gets New Video
