Today Thrustmaster revealed Sol-R, a new joystick dedicated to space sims like Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous.
The Sol-R is designed to be used with both the left or the right hand, so you can easily use two together if you prefer the HOSAS configuration, which tends to be the most popular among space sim enthusiasts.
Conveniently, when the joystick releases on April 16, 2025, it’ll be sold individually or in a set of two, priced respectively £159.99 / $219.99 / €179.99 and £299.99 / $399.99 / €329.99, letting you save a few bucks if you buy a pair.
Pre-orders are already available today.
Each stick comes with up to 44 programmable actions with 21 on the grip alone. The main trigger is dual-position, and there are two hat switches, one mini-stick, and one scroll wheel on the top.
The X, Y, and Z axes are equipped with H.E.A.R.T. (HallEffect AccuRate Technology) Hall Effect magnetic sensors with 16-bit accuracy, which promises to extend the lifespan of the stick thanks to the fact that it’s frictionless.
If you like pretty lights, the Sol-R also includes 11 customizable RGB LED zones.
Last, but not least, the Sol-R base can also accommodate Thrustmaster’s own Viper and Hornet grips, and promises to be compatible with future grips from the manufacturer. Conversely, the Sol-R grip can be attached to the existing AVA base.
