The developers of the WW2 strategy simulation game Task Force Admiral – Vol.1: American Carrier Battles at Drydock Dreams Games shared info on their upcoming plans.
We hear that the ships for the Kantai Kassen scenario are being created, and the developer hopes to release it by the end of the month. It should push unit count and gameplay to the game’s limits.
A “blue-on-blue” scenario is also in development to provide players with the chance of fighting against an enemy who has radar.
We also get a look at some of the units being implemented in the game.
A few minor patches have been released with the following content
- Changed fighters wingmen logic to make them attack more frequently : a previous change to the tactical structure of USN fighters prevented the wingman from attacking targets during fighter duty against bombers and snoopers. Now that it has been corrected, you should notice that fighters on duty will engage much more efficiently any target that qualifies as such, while still covering each other when engaged in dogfights.
- Fixed bugs causing the missions to be inserted in the wrong order in the timeline.
- Fixed overlapping UI elements in Battle Outcome screen
- Fixes and ajustements on flight deck damage model.
- New natural environment around Lunga on Guadalcanal (plantations, buildings and airstrip still to come).
Another with a number of fixes should come out in the next few days, including one for Japanese air-dropped torpedoes.
Animated men on deck are also being developed and are almost ready for prime time.
The developers also admitted that they are late on their expected roadmap, especially on the Kickstarter rewards and physical edition, since development of the actual game has taken priority.
That being said, they pledged to make it up to the supporters and fulfill their obligations.

If you’re unfamiliar with Task Force Admiral – Vol.1: American Carrier Battles, it’s one of the first strategy simulation games revealed under MicroProse‘s umbrella when the historical publisher was officially revived in 2019
It’s available in early access for PC, and no other platforms have been announced at the time of this writing.
Full disclosure: the author of this post backed Task Force Admiral as soon as the Kickstarter campaign was made available.
