Tales of Seikyu, the upcoming farming/life sim from ACE Entertainment and Fireshine Games, has revealed a new gameplay trailer ahead of its May 21 early access launch, giving fans a deep dive into mechanics before they can hop in for themselves.
To begin, the trailer explains that humans don’t exist in Tales of Seikyu. Instead, they’re myths, and everyone in the game is a yokai. These yokai look to human myths and use inventions from them in their daily lives in Seikyu, which players can do as they build various machinery.
Though that won’t stop the main character from using different yokai forms while farming. Players are put in the shoes of a young fox yokai who can switch forms as they please, including a slime, boar, and tengu.
These forms are also good for getting around. The trailer shows many of the uses these forms can have for traversal, such as running around on land as the boar or diving underwater as the slime.
Next, the trailer shows off the process for gathering materials, crafting, decorating, and cooking.
The Tales of Seikyu gameplay trailer also shows off the various settings players can adjust. While many of them are pretty standard, like mapping controls, one that stands out is the ability to control how fast or slow the day goes.
The trailer then goes into the different relationships that are part of Tales of Seikyu. While there are several romanceable NPCs, there are also rivals to encounter in the game. Additionally, each NPC has a yokai form that’s teased.
