Epictellers Entertainment has shared nearly five minutes of gameplay for Starfinder: Afterlight for the first time at the New Game Plus Showcase, showing the public a gameplay video for the first time.

The gameplay teaser shows Sterling gameplay, the Companion played by Neil Newborn (Astarion, Baldur’s Gate 3). The first few minutes show how dice rolls look and feel, along with a bit of dialogue. The dialogue has helpful, hoverable definitions for words that players may not remember or be familiar with.

Fans also got to hear the Narrator’s role in exploration, which is voiced by Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan, Red Dead Redemption 2). There’s also dialogue with Lu-323, voiced by Melissa Medína (Callis, Borderlands 4).

There’s also a look at combat, featuring Sterling and Lu-323. There are three actions per character’s turn, which they can use for spells and movement. This means that support characters like Lu-323 can set up her buffs and spells while fighters like Sterling can move in close to an enemy and attack.

Of course, while showing this off, fans get to check out the UI at the same time, which is pretty clean and intuitive. It’s also on a free stage, with no grid system. The developer in the gameplay video explains that this choice was made to avoid feeling and looking like a tabletop simulator.

Fans can check out the Starfinder: Afterlight gameplay below:

It’s important to note that all the gameplay shown off is pre-alpha footage, so anything is subject to change as development continues.

Additionally, it was revealed that the first 10 hours are planned to be released in Early Access later this year. There will also be a demo available for players to try the game before opting in to Early Access. A closed beta is releasing next month for Kickstarter backers who have access

Starfinder: Afterlight is a sci-fi CRPG that’s set to release on PC. It was launched on Kickstarter in October last year, where it raised three times its goal on day one.
