Today, Astragon Entertainment officially launched the Seafarer: The Ship Sim Career update.
Seafarer: The Ship Sim Career Update introduces major gameplay changes that overhaul the game’s progression systems while adding new story missions that conclude Teddy’s storyline. This is one of the game’s most significant updates, shifting Seafarer toward a sandbox-focused experience.
Astragon even released a beta last week to gather feedback ahead of the release. The beta helped address numerous known issues before the official launch, including unfinished cutscenes, lip-sync problems, drone bugs, reputation-balancing concerns, and several mission-specific glitches.
Players now have more freedom to shape their careers, with expanded business management, new trading options, and the ability to operate ships beyond traditional missions. A new reputation system replaces the old level-based progression.
Via the new reputation in Seafarer: The Ship Sim Career Update, players will be able to unlock new ships, locations, and opportunities at individual ports as they build their standing across the game world. Three new story missions are also introduced to conclude Teddy’s story and add new events and challenges at sea.
Additional features included in the update are:
- Drones added to more ships, allowing players to better explore their surroundings.
- Deck cleaning gameplay for the bulk carrier.
- A reworked inspection gameplay system.
Astragon has also released a new Career update trailer and a developer diary, offering a closer look at the latest features.
Seafarer: The Ship Sim is available now on PC via Epic Games and Steam in Early Access for $24.99. For more info on this, the upcoming roadmap, and other similar oceanic simulators, like Ships at Sea, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
