Sea of Legends lets players take to the Caribbean waters as pirates. They’ll climb the ladder to the pirate king, taking on other pirates, countries, and ocean monsters. Between navigating the seas and winning battles, players can explore towns.

Exploring towns means checking out popular taverns to get information, scout new crew members, gamble for extra cash, and even find romance. Players can decide to raid towns instead, looting them and gathering information. A prototype gameplay video shows how romance is planned to work:

Battles, both one-on-one honor duels, tavern brawls, and larger skirmishes, are deck fights. The crew members that players recruit impact what their card decks look like.

Jordan Weisman teamed up with several industry veterans to create the Sea of Legends videogame, including Andrew McIntosh (Attletech, multiple Shadowrun titles), Jeffery Campbell (Darkest Dungeon, Dead Rising 4, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided), Kate Cruz (Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones), and Justin Gray (Ascension).

Sea of Legends was built in Adventure Forge, an upcoming no-code video game creation platform. Jordan Weisman also created Adventure Forge. The platform is meant to help storytellers and similar people create narrative-driven video games. The platform will be available in Early Access on Steam later this year, with free guides and tutorials for aspiring developers to consult.

Sea of Legends will be available on Kickstarter on October 1. The Sea of Legends franchise has had two successful crowdfunded projects, which gives a positive outlook for the upcoming CRPG.

Fans can see more about the game and its art below.
