The trailer showcases the Sumatran Rainforest Wildlife Reserve. This location was devastated by human mining efforts, so players must restore and rewild the reserve by building ecosystems. All of the debris must be removed to make room for forest swamps, which require unique flora and terrain.

Then, the video shows the next step of setting up the research outpost so that animals can be released into the wild. The outpost can be designed by the players or placed with a pre-built blueprint. The video demonstrates reintroducing species using the Tapir, which is native to Sumatra.

We then get a look at the Indonesian Zoo, home to a male Sumatran Tiger who is ready to join the wild in the new Sumatran Wildlife Reserve. The video shows how releasing zoo animals into the reserves works.

A research network can also be built with camera traps and acoustic monitors in order to keep a close eye on all of the animals in the reserve. Wildlife Reserves with good biodiversity help build accreditation ratings, which unlock opportunities such as additional animal storage slots.

There’s even more to see in the full Feature Focus video, so you can watch it in its entirety below.

Planet Zoo 2 releases on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 13, 2026.
