In the video, Frontier Developments shows off how aviaries will work. These habitats use support poles and roofs to give birds, such as the Secretary Bird, lots of space to fly and move about.

For the first time, players will be able to foster nests and incubate eggs to welcome new birds to the zoo. We get a teaser of how it works in the Frequent Flyers video with Long-eared Owls and Hornbills used as examples. Players can watch the incubation of the eggs through a nest cam so as not to disturb the birds. When eggs hatch, they can be released to wildlife reserves to increase the natural population of the species.

Some species, such as the Malayan Tapir, can even co-inhabit aviaries alongside the birds. The video explains how this cohabitation is not just space efficient but also might be necessary for some animals to thrive.

One of the highlights of the Frequent Flyers videos is the new feature of walkable pathways inside the aviary habitats. Some bird species, such as the Toco Toucan, can live in aviaries with paths for guests to walk along, but other species prefer not to be disturbed and may not react well to visitors.

At the end of the video, there’s a quick teaser for the next installment of the series, which looks to feature rabbits.

You can watch the full Frequent Flyers spotlight in the video below.

If you’re catching up on what Planet Zoo 2 has to offer, you can check out some of their other spotlight videos, such as for aquariums and marine management, as well as African animal species.

Planet Zoo 2 releases on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 16, 2026.
